Getting those perfect, natural-looking brows with Nanoblading is all about the right preparation! At Miss Derm, your comfort and achieving the best results are our top priorities. So, here’s a friendly step-by-step guide to help you get ready for your Nanoblading appointment:
1. Do Your Research about Nanoblading
Understand what Nanoblading entails. It’s a semi-permanent eyebrow enhancement that uses ultra-fine needles to create hair-like strokes for a fuller, more natural brow. You can read some of our blog posts about Nanoblading or PMU (Permanent Make-up) in general.
2. Avoid Blood Thinners
At least 24-48 hours before your appointment, avoid blood-thinning substances like:
Alcohol
Caffeine
Aspirin or Ibuprofen
Fish oil or Vitamin E supplements
Blood thinners can increase bleeding during the procedure. Excessive bleeding can push the pigment out of the skin, making it harder for the pigment to settle properly.
3. Skip Skincare Treatments
Avoid facial treatments that can sensitize your skin for at least one week prior, such as:
Chemical peels
Microdermabrasion
Laser treatments
Retinol or exfoliating products
Chemical peels remove the top layers of skin, making it more sensitive, thin, and prone to irritation. Performing PMU on freshly exfoliated skin can cause discomfort and increase the risk of inflammation. Also, when the skin barrier is compromised, it can lead to uneven pigment absorption. This may result in a patchy or inconsistent color once healed.
4. No Brow Grooming
Do not tweeze, wax, or tint your eyebrows at least one week before your appointment. This allows your brow artist to work with your natural brow shape.
5. Communicate Your Desired Look
Bring brow inspiration photos and be ready to discuss your desired shape, thickness, and color. Our artists at Miss Derm will customize the perfect brows for your face.
6. Stay Hydrated and Rested
Drink plenty of water and get a good night’s sleep before your session. This helps your skin stay hydrated and resilient during the procedure.
7. Dress Comfortably
Nanoblading can take up to 2-3 hours. Wear comfortable clothing to help you relax throughout the process. As much as possible, we want you to have in 1 seating, but if you need to go to the loo, not a big deal.
8. Plan for Downtime
After Nanoblading, your brows will need time to heal. Avoid major social events or water-related activities (swimming, saunas) for at least 2 weeks. If you can do your activities prior to your appointment, do it!
9. Avoid Makeup on Appointment Day
Arrive with a clean face and no makeup, especially around your brows, to prevent any risk of infection. However, if you want us to copy your make-up look, come with your make-up and we'll remove them for your before your procedure.
10. Consult with Your Artist
If you have any medical conditions or allergies or are pregnant/breastfeeding, consult with your brow artist beforehand to ensure it’s safe for you. You can also book an online appointment (video conference) with us to answer your woes.
By following these steps, you'll be fully prepared for your Nanoblading or any PMU session at Miss Derm, ensuring a smooth experience and stunning results!
